Cottage & Day Hut Ice Fishing Packages + F.A.Q.

Bear Creek Cottages offers on-shore accommodations along with ice fishing during daylight hours to all sorts of different parties. From couples to large fishing groups, the packages are designed to have the guests experience the sport of hard-water fishing in and outside of the day hut(s) along with the comforts of home. Many different types of fish can be brought up through the holes. Walleye, perch and pike are the main fish species that are targeted and caught within Bear Creek Cottages' habitats. The day huts range from small to extra large shacks and outhouse is provided. Large groups will be situated within walking distance from each hut. Bear Creek Cottages' staff set-up the fishing hut format based on reservation participants. Everyone is set-up for success! It's a great sprot to get outdoors, take in the beautiful lake views and the amazing winter skies! Local snowmobile trails are also found close to the reefs that we fish on!

Transportation, drilled holes, heated shacks, bait service and frequent check-ins provide the guests with the opportunity to winter fish Lake Nipissing in a designated section of the south shore. Snowmobiles & tracked ATVs are welcomed but the staff will escort you to and from the hut. Guests are welcome to bring a pop-up tent for day excursions if interested. The shacks have a cooking stove that groups can cook on if interested.

There are mid-week savings and weekend packages to select from. Reservations must be followed by a $250 deposit. Cancellation policies can be viewed on this site.

The huts all have clearly marked slot-size rulers to help quickly discover if it's a keeper walleye. Please be aware of the allotted fish quantities (depending on your license type) and slot sizes for the lake (see it posted in our fish tabs). Fishing licenses are required, and fishermen/women are to follow the rules and be aware that the Ministry of Natural Resources along with the Ontario Provincial Police are out and about to make sure everyone is playing fair for an enjoyable lake adventure.

Each fishermen/women will have their own bed. Some large groups may share 2 to 3 cottages. In the winter, groups cannot request a particular cottage. Groups will be put into the units that is best suited for the groups needs and other groups schedules play a factor in who goes where. It's a revolving door in the winter within the huts and the cottages. Bear Creek Cottages has 6 cottages that are rented out for the winter months. Each cottage has limited wifi, satellite receivers, DVD players, showers, full kitchens with all dishes, coffee makers (filters provided), dish clothes & dish soap, and garbage bags. Guests must bring a sheet or linens or sleeping bag so they are not sleeping directly on the mattress protectors, towels, paper products and all fishing gear, as well as warm clothing for the shuttle and outdoor fishing. The shuttles are large enough to haul portable ice huts, camping chairs, coolers, fish campers, and plastic sleighs if needed. No glass bottles are permitted on ice.

Day huts must be left as they were found. Fishing holes must not be baited or dirtied in any way. A relocation fee will be charged if holes and ice surface is left a mess!

If travelling with fish, please ensure that the proper rules are followed as the MNR can check your coolers (fish skin must be left on to determine the species, etc.). During your stay, make sure to follow the rules of how much fish can be in everyone's daily possession as MNR have the right to search the area.

Bait service is provided, and bait is sold per dozen. If bringing your own bait, please make sure to check the rules for bait on Lake Nipissing so we do not bring invasive species into our lakes.
